Tinnitus
Protection, Understanding and Healing
In late August 2023, Juan Amigo developed tinnitus and hyperacusis after going through a period of great personal and emotional stress. Over time, he managed to overcome the hyperacusis and, although the tinnitus still persists, its intensity has decreased considerably, to the point of being very mild at present. To promote his recovery, he decided to drastically reduce his activity as a DJ between the end of 2023 and the end of 2024 (when he has gradually started to DJ again), prioritizing his auditory and emotional well-being. Currently, he continues to work on his complete healing from tinnitus.
Tinnitus is a condition that affects many musicians and DJs, but also people outside the music industry, including those who have never been exposed to loud noises. It manifests as a persistent sound in the ears, which can range from a slight ringing to an intense noise that interferes with daily life. Although it is often associated with prolonged exposure to high volumes, the reality is that its causes can be much deeper.
Hearing protection
The key to avoiding tinnitus
Music is vibration, and the ear is an extremely sensitive channel. When constantly exposed to excessive levels of sound without proper protection, the damage can be irreversible. That is why it is essential that both artists and audiences become aware and protect themselves appropriately.
Using earplugs with filters is an essential measure to reduce decibels without losing sound quality. This simple precaution allows you to continue enjoying music without compromising your hearing health, avoiding possible irreversible damage such as tinnitus and hyperacusis.

Beyond the sound
Tinnitus as a signal from the body
Although traditional medicine often considers tinnitus to be an incurable condition, more and more people have managed to overcome it by addressing its origin from a broader, more holistic perspective. Tinnitus is a warning from the body, a manifestation of internal imbalances, stress or unresolved emotional conflicts.
Tinnitus is not just a hearing problem, but a sign that something is wrong on a physical or emotional level. Addressing it from this perspective allows not only to alleviate the symptoms, but also to heal the underlying causes that cause it.
